The figure of Christ has a long tradition in art and sculpture. Our statue depicts the crucifixion of Christ, shown already dead with his eyes rolled back, head tilted to the right and a gapping mouth showing the sufferings of the Passion.
This statue is hand carved out of wood and hand painted. He has glass eyes showing just the whites of his eyes rolled back into his head. This piece is likely of Spanish origin, the detail and mastery in the carving really shows.
This piece does not have a stand and does not stand on it's own without being propped up. There is a small hole in the bottom of the statue where it's possible to mount a stand.
