A spin-off of the popular Chinoiserie craze of the late 1800s, (which also made a resurgence in the 1920s and 1930s), these beautiful undrilled rock crystal orbs get their name from the brilliant light reflections they project while wearing them -- literally pools of light.
It was believed by many that rock crystal held spiritual powers and by wrapping the stone in sterling silver the energy was not only contained but also amplified to its highest point. Once the stone is drilled or cut, the energy is released.
This exquisite necklace measures 30 inches and is comprised of 22 crystal orbs wrapped in sterling silver wire and spaced with links of sterling silver chain. This necklace does not have a clasp and is meant to be pulled over your head.
Pools of light are getting increasingly difficult to find, so it is a real treat to come across this one.
