Trends from yesteryear are constantly being reinvented and recycled. It is true for our fashion trends today as well as the trends of the past. Maybe a popular period film was released or a centennial of an important historical event occurred to sway designers to look to the past. The Victorian era sees a revival pretty frequently in clothing, jewelry and housewares. We see Victorian influence in the clothing of the 1930s, the jewelry of the 1940s and again in the clothing of the 1970s.
This gorgeous green onyx paperweight is one of those Victorian revival pieces from the 1940s. You can tell by the long slender fingers and delicately enameled red nails. A brass hand sits atop the onyx base and acts as a clip for your letters or papers. While a great addition to your desk, this piece is stunning in it's own right and can also be put on display in your home.
