A fashionable favorite of the iconic Queen Marie Antoinette, rivières have held fast in popularity since the 18th century and it's easy to see why!
Taking its name from the French word for "river," a rivière is a short necklace designed to flow around the neck. It is composed of one type of stone in the same color and cut either the same size or sometimes slightly graduated.
The setting and the necklace itself are of a simple design to allow for the gemstones to take center stage.
This dazzling necklace is made of faceted topaz Czech glass set in wonderfully patinaed antiques brass. It adds the loveliest bit of warmth and sparkle to any ensemble. It's shorter choker length makes it a great layering piece.
It exudes the perfect amount of simplicity while still creating a major impact. It's no wonder this timeless setting is a favorite among 18th century queens and modern-day starlets alike.
