Early 1900s UV Reactive Milk Glass Crucifix Candlestick

This exquisite devotional candlestick will add just the right amount of ghostly ambiance and gothic style to any alter, mantelpiece or space where you conjure the dead. 

Fashioned in slightly opalescent milk glass, this lovely piece showcases a 3-dimensional Jesus crucified on the cross.  

Milk glass was widely adored by 19th century Victorians for its uncanny resemblance to porcelain -- something only the wealthiest members of society could afford.

This particular candlestick is an example of a pressed glass piece, which means the glass was heated and then pressed into a wooden mold to form its shape as opposed to being blown by hand. The use of this technique often leads to rough and chipped looking seams and edges.

It also was made with manganese, which causes it to glow green under UV light.
