Published in New York by the Frederick A. Stokes Company, this 1890s novelty features a minuscule leather-bound dictionary perfectly tucked into a 7/8" x 1 3/16" decorative sterling silver case.
The front of the case has a glass window that double as a magnifying glass to read the microscopic print.
While the novelty of the dictionary is fun, the chain it is attached to is simply stunning!
Though the dictionary itself most likely would not have originally come with a chain, when we purchased this piece it came attached to this exquisite French floral forget-me-not filigree guard chain and we decided to keep the two together. We think it compliments the scroll work on the case nicely.
Crafted in 800 silver and measuring a whopping 60 inches, this beautiful chain can be worn wrapped in a myriad of ways. It has a dog clip at the end allowing you to easily remove the dictionary and add another pendant, watch or charm should you choose to do so.

Glass on the case has a few surface scratches. The dictionary looks like it has sustained a little water damage as some of the red leather dye has bled onto the first few pages. Book is still securely bound together, but it should be treated as fragile given its age.
Cleaning and Care
Remove the dictionary prior to cleaning. Clean with silver jewelry cleaner or warm soap and water. Dry completely before returning the book to the case.
