Milk Glass Cornucopia Hand Vase with Gold Accents

Regular price $68.00

Hand motifs are seen in abundance in Victorian jewelry and housewares.  A hand holding a cornucopia would symbolize abundance and good fortune.  Cornucopia (cornu copiae) translated from latin means "horn of plenty."

This hand vase is made of a milky white glass with hand painted gold accents and features a hand holding a cornucopia.  No detail is overlooked in this vase with even a ring placed on the finger and a frilly cuff adorning the wrist.  This style of vase originated in the Victorian era but was often reproduced later on.  It is very likely this vase was manufactured by Portieux Vallerysthal in the 1930s.  These milk glass hand vases with gold accents can be found in their 1933 catalogue.
