Cabinet cards got their start in the early 1860s. They are photographs mounted on thick card stock, perfect for displaying in parlors and around the home. Most cabinet cards were photographs of family and loved ones but not surprisingly did funeral imagery become a staple in the cabinet card industry.
This photograph shows a funeral flower arrangement placed on a table with white tablecloth. White carnations pop against dark foliage with the word "rest" written at the center. White carnations have long been a flower of mourning, symbolizing deep sorrow and respect. This photograph is framed in a simple black wood frame.
