A popular gem substitute in the 18th and 19th centuries, Vauxhall glass amplifies the beauty of cut glass by mounting it on a mirror-like polished metal backing.
While true Vauxhall glass was made by the Vauxhall Glassworks in London and came in limited colors, there was a later resurgence of Vauxhall-style jewelry during the Art Deco era.
This stunning rose-hued necklace is a wonderful example of 18th century influence on 20th century jewelry. It is fashioned in molded pink Czech glass that has been backed with foil and set in brass. The design is quintessential art deco!
Truly a conversation piece!
