Handcrafted in France sometime between the 1910s and early 1920s, this exquisite headpiece features hundreds of dazzling prong-set paste rhinestones framed in wonderfully aged French metal bullion braid in the shape of flowers and leaves.
A thick metal wire runs along the bottom inside edge of the piece to give it stability and shape. Crown fastens in the back with a heavy hook and eye closure.
Crowns of this nature were often worn by brides during their weddings and also as evening attire for a fancy night out on the town.

We are selling this piece in as-found condition. All rhinestones are present and while they do have age to them, there are no dead/dirty/dark rhinestones. Everything sparkles. There is one spot on the petal of a side flower where the solder holding the bullion together has come apart, which makes the piece flop slightly. The hook and eye of the crown fastens, but not tightly. We are leaving it up to the buyer as to whether they want to stitch the piece closed or perhaps wear it unfastened and pinned into the hair.
