While they don't have the most romantic moniker, blister pearls truly are a thing of beauty.
These unique pearls are formed by chance when a foreign object finds its way between the mantle and shell surface of a mollusk during feeding. As the mollusk tried to rid itself of the irritation, it secretes nacreous layers of calcium carbonate which in turn create the raised "blister." Because these pearls are naturally occurring, no two are exactly alike.
This striking pearl is quite large and is a wonderful specimen! It has a lovely rainbow luster throughout and some tinges of peach on the blister itself.
Pearl is set in a beautiful Art Nouveau style sterling setting giving it a timeless look.
