This serpentine brass letter clip isn't just beautiful, it's also a rare piece of New York and US history!
This exquisitely detailed (and heavy!) clip was handcrafted by P.E. Guerin, the oldest decorative hardware firm in the United States, and the only metal foundry in New York City. The company was started in 1857 by French immigrant Pierre Emmanuel Guerin and has been at its current location on Jane Street in Greenwich Village since 1892.
While the Guerin company primarily focused on door knobs and knockers, handles, hinges, escutcheons and the like, they also created a small offering of "art metal work" as well as custom pieces.
Looks great lying on a desk or it can also be hung on a wall.
