A fashionable favorite of the iconic Queen Marie Antoinette, rivières have held fast in popularity since the 18th century and it's easy to see why!
Taking its name from the French word for "river," a rivière is a short necklace designed to flow around the neck. It is composed of one type of stone in the same color and cut either the same size or sometimes slightly graduated.
The setting and the necklace itself are of a simple design to allow for the gemstones to take center stage.
This dazzling necklace sparkles like diamonds in candlelight. It is like wearing a river of tiny stars around your neck. That's really the only way to describe it. The photos really do not do this piece justice!
Each expertly cut paste rhinestone is set into a beautiful open-back sterling silver collet setting that is practically invisible when worn.
It exudes the perfect amount of simplicity while still creating a major impact. It's no wonder this timeless setting is a favorite among 18th century queens and modern-day starlets alike.
