Popular in the mid to late Victorian era, human hair wreaths were created for a variety of reasons.
While most were a touching tribute to memorialize the dearly departed, hairwork also was used for sentimental reasons as a way to celebrate friendship, family and love.
This spectacular wreath features hair from numerous people accented with tiny dried flowers and delicate bead work. It comes in a heavy solid oak frame.
Unfortunately, it does not have any information about who it might have belonged to or whether it is a memorial or sentimental piece, so we will just have to appreciate it as the work of art that it is.

There is some hair dust/remnants sitting at the bottom inside of the glass. This is not uncommon with these pieces. Backing is missing a tiny piece of exterior wood, but it is not open to the elements.

Wipe glass with glass cleaner as needed. Keep away from direct sunlight.
