The aesthetic movement was born in the latter part of the nineteenth century as a way to escape the ugliness and materialism of the Industrial Revolution and to challenge overbearing and conservative Victorian traditions.
An intellectual as well as an artistic movement, aestheticism championed pure beauty and 'art for art's sake' by emphasizing the visual and sensual qualities of art and design over practical, political, moral or social considerations.
Popular motifs of the movement included sunflowers, peacock feathers, storks, lilies, paisley, flowers, leaves, Japanese forms, insects, butterflies and birds.
This incredible 800 silver bangle is the epitome of art, beauty and aestheticism. Its ornate dimensional design features a cacophony of decorative elements -- from engraved leaves to repoussé balls, intricate filigree wirework to over-the-top granulation. Together, they all create a truly show stopping piece!
Bracelet is hinged with a safety chain and has a secret clasp release built into the sphere detailing along the edge.
