Prior to the advent of the automobile, funeral processions were a slow moving, all-day affair. Keeping the processions together was a relatively easy task.

However, once motorized cars came onto the scene, things really began to pick up the pace!

As more people became mobile -- and with the newfound hustle and bustle of large cities -- keeping funeral processions together became a challenge. Thus, the funeral car flag came to be.

A flag was adhered to each car in the procession by way of magnet or window clip and served as a means of distinguishing mourners from the average Joes on the road.

Eventually these funeral flags went by the wayside and the more economical (and easier to store) funeral car sticker took its place and it remains today.

This fantastic funeral flag is made of plastic with a laminated Funeral decal on each side. It is mounted to a metal rod with a magnetic rubber base.

It is clear by looking at it that this flag has been to a lot of funerals. It is battered and worn, and that's just how we like it! No one wants a pristine funeral flag!

A great addition to any mourning or oddity collection!
